When did you start painting?
This is a question I’ve been asked fairly regularly over the last few years.
In many ways my answer is - from a very early age, I was very fortunate that both my parents had creative hobbies and would always encourage me and my sister to try out different crafts, forms of art and generally be creative.
I have attended various painting groups going on a few painting holidays and listened to various tutors explaining to me what they think is important about colour theory what materials to use and how to apply them.
There are some basic rules to follow or at least to understand the theory of them such as colour theory -- colours that work together harmoniously and colours that shout to each other because they are…. However I’m a true believer in once you know the rules you can decide which ones to break and then you are truly creating and I love this!!!
Over the last few years I’ve really homed down on the area I want to concentrate on in my paintings I’ve developed techniques that are fairly unusual such as painting trees by turning my canvases or paper upside down. My paintings are about catching the essence of the place; the emotional connection we have with it - the feeling of joy and well-being.
I’m a true believer that we are always learning, we’re always developing. Now I am creating my art on a full-time basis I’m very excited about having real quality time to develop my ideas and skills and create paintings full of joy and love.
If you have any questions about my process or any paintings that I produce please do not hesitate in contacting me.
I wish you all a super day.
